| The True belief in Jesus, Son of MaryWe Muslims do not believe that Jesus is a legend that never existed, as the modern western intellectuals claim; we do not deny his prophecy as the Jews do and we do not believe in the exaggeration as the Christians do so much in regarding him by saying that he is the son of God, he is a God beside him and he is the God. Allah said about them
in His Noble Qur'an: }لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ } المائدة:١٧
"Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allâh is the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary)" [Al-Mâ'idah 5:17]We only profess the pristine commandments of Jesus himself and that which our Prophet Muhammad came with in the Noble Qur'an.In Jesus' Commandments, he asserted that he is a human being, a worshipper of Allah and a messenger to the Children of Israel, just like other prophets before and after him. It is cited in Mark [12:29] that one of the scribes asked him about the first Commandment. He replied, "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel: The Lord; our Lord is one".([1])
[right]Jesus ؛ said in John [17:3], "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent".([2])
unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me god? There is none god but one; that is God." ([3])
Dr. Muhammad Taqi ad-Din Al-Hilali comments on this text saying, "When he said, [There is none god but one; that is God], it is a confession of Jesus that he was a devoted worshipper of Allah; as he meant by "god" the perfect who has no defect in anyway, that can only be Allah." ([4])
This is the Commandments of Jesus himself. They affirm that he is just a human being, created by Allah , and that he is a messenger like other messengers.
The more decisive evidence that he is not a God nor a son of God is in Mark [13:32] regarding the Hour and the Day of Resurrection: "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." If the Son were the eye of the Father, then he would know what the Father knows. ([5])
Another evidence on the manhood of Jesus ؛, the uniqueness of God in His essence and the perfection of His Attributes is in Mark [1:28]: "God never been seen."
In the sixth chapter of Paul's first message to the Thessalonians : "No man hath seen God at any time, nor can be seen."
But people saw Jesus and the Holy Spirit. ([6])
These are Jesus's commandments that call to the Oneness of Allah in His essence, His perfection and His Lordship. They affirm that Jesus ؛ is a human being and Allah's messenger to the Children of Israel. He has human attributes : he do not know the unknown , he lived among people, being seen as any ordinary man. But nobody can see Allah; as He is united in His Greatness, Essence and Perfection. He cannot be realized by sight. Allah said :
{ لَا تُدْرِكُهُ الْأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الْأَبْصَارَ .. } الأنعام: ١٠٣
"No vision can grasp Him, but He grasps all visions." [Al-An'âm 6:103]It is evident that Muslims all the time and everywhere believe in these commandment and in Jesus ؛, son of Mary; that the legitimate and true belief. We also believe in what came considering him from our Prophet Muhammad in his Sunnah ([7]) or in the Glorious Qur'an, that he is Allah's worshipper and messenger; His Word which He bestowed on Mary; and a spirit created by Him. Jesus is stated in the Qur'an as :{إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَى عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ خَلَقَهُ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ} آل عمران: ٥٩”Verily, thelikeness of 'Iesa (Jesus) before Allâh is the likeness of Adam. Hecreated him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be! and hewas”Al-Emran:59] { إِنَّمَا الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُ أَلْقَاهَا إِلَى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُ} النساء: ١٧١ "The Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allâh and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rûh) created by Him." [An-Nisâ' 4:171]i.e. He created him with the word 'Be' that He sent with Gabriel to Mary. Gabriel blew the life of Jesus into Mary by Allah's consent, and Jesus came to existence as a result. Shathan bin Yahya said, "Jesus was not the Word. Rather, Jesus came to existence because of the Word." ([8])Al-Bukhari narrated that `Ubadah bin As-Samit reported the Prophet saying, "If anyone testifies that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His worshipper and Messenger, and that `Jesus is Allah's worshipper and Messenger and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true and Hell is true, then Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he performed."When King Nagashi (or Negus) heard the reply of Ja'far bin Abi Taleb on what the Muslims say about Jesus ؛; that he is a worshipper of Allah and His messenger and His Word which He bestowed on Mary; and a spirit created by Him, he picked up a twig from the ground and said, "I swear, the difference between what we believe about Jesus, the Son of Mary, and what you have said is not greater than the width of this twig." ([9])Many of today’s and of the past Christians believed in that, as well as the early Christians in the first four decades, before the changes introduced into the religion. It is professed in this chapter that Muslims are more sincere in believing in Jesus and have the best claim to him. They believe in the innocence of Jesus and his chaste mother from what the Jews accused them of. Allah states:{ وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلَى مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَانًا عَظِيمًا} النساء: ١٥٦"and because of disbelef(the Jews) and uttering against Maryam a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse)" [An-Nisâ' 4: 156]Muslims deemed their God high above taking a son as the Christians claims. When Jesus descends from heaven at the end of the time, he will defend Islam and will take the side of the Muslims. He will abolish all the religions , except Islam."Al-Bukhari" and "Muslim" reported in their "Sahihs" (i.e. the two authentic traditions of the Prophet : Bukhari and Muslim)on the authority of Abi Hurairah that the Prophet said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no "Jizya" (i.e. taxation taken from non Muslims). Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it." Abu Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the Holy Book):{ وَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا} النساء:١٥٩ "And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him [Jesus, son of Mary, as only a Messenger of Allâh and a human being],before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection, he (Jesus) will be a witness against them." [An-Nisâ' 4:159]Jesus will not accept but the religion of Allah: Islam; the religion of all the prophets – peace be upon them all.It is reported in "Sahih" Muslim on the authority of Abi Hurairah that Allah's Messenger said, "By Him (Allah) in Whose Hand Muhammad’s soul is, there is none from amongst the Jews and the Christians (of these present nations) who hears about me and then dies without believing in the Message with which I have been sent (i.e. Islamic Monotheism), but he will be from the dwellers of the (Hell) Fire."
